01The system

We created a design system to optimize and improve the design process of the Google team

The main challenge was designing a system that worked seamlessly across platforms (Desktop, Android, and iOS) while adapting to the native requirements of each operating system.

Chrome components: icon buttons, Verify it’s you chip, list item with property panel, tab group, New Tab Page pill and Simplify page button

02Platforms

Designing for desktop required adapting across platforms while preserving one standard and look

By building with variables and adaptable components, the system gave designers the power to design once on a base theme and instantly adapt their screens to any operating system (Windows, macOS, and more).

03iOS 26

Updating the iOS library to the new Liquid Glass style in iOS 26 was an exciting milestone for the team

From Chrome’s perspective, it was thrilling to help shape the largest iOS visual update in ten years, ensuring the browser felt nearly native on Apple devices used around the globe.

04Variables

We migrated all the library styles into variables to improve the components.

For Android, the main challenge was migrating styles into variables, allowing components to support both light and dark mode without redundant variants, in a system already scaled across thousands of screens.

05Documentation

Reviewing every interface and documenting them.

What we created went beyond a component repository. It became a single source of truth, where styles, components, and interfaces came together and where designers could pick up reusable screens already crafted with best practices.

06Impact

And finally, the numbers!

The system ships inside a browser used by billions, so every decision in it carries that far.

Reflection

Being part of Chrome’s design system was a career milestone. Building the system beneath a product used by billions taught me how to balance detail with scale, and how a single decision can ripple across platforms worldwide. It was the kind of work that reminded me why I chose design: to create clarity, efficiency, and impact at a global level.

Let’s work together

Say hello

I’m looking for a product design team where systems matter and things ship at scale — in Canada, remote, or wherever you are. If that’s you, I’d love to hear from you.
